Initiated by Prof. Noe (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), the summer schools in the field of applied superconductivity are now organized by ESAS. In 2017 one school on will take place in Lans-en-Vercors, France, close to Grenoble, June 25-30, 2017. It will be organised in "Le domaine des Girards" in the beautiful "Massif du Vercors". A bus will leave Grenoble railway station sunday June 25 at the end of the afternoon. The end of the school in Grenoble will be on Friday June 30 around noon.

The school will cover various aspects of superconductivity from physics to large scale applications (magnets, FCL, cables, rotating machines…) through materials, cryogenics instrumentation and modelling. Technical visits will be organized on Friday morning. Several industrial speakers will highlight the industrial aspect of superconductivity with a market in constant growing.

This school is intended not only to provide a better understanding of superconductivity in general, but also to develop links and networking between the community especially the young one. All participants will present a poster, support for exchanges. The warm « Domaine des Girards » and a hike on the wonderful Vercors plateau followed by an evening in an Alpine restaurant will favour this. To maintain the essential conviviality the number of participants is limited.

In addition to ESAS, this school is strongly supported by IEEE-CSC and AFF-CCS (kind of French ESAS).

Who should attend?

The summer school will be of interest for students (Master, PhD), for Post-Docs, for engineers and scientists, and for those who want to learn more about superconductivity.

We are looking forward to meeting you at the domaine des Girards next June, Save the date!
